SUMMARY:Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Training
DESCRIPTION:40-hour Certification\nHosted By: Springfield Township Police Department – Chief Rob Browder\n& The Hamilton County Police Association (HCPA). \nThe 40-hour comprehensive training emphasizes mental health-related topics\, crisis resolution skills and de-escalation training\, and access to community-based services. The format of this 40-hour course consists of didactics/lectures\, on-site visitation and exposure to several mental health facilities\, intensive interaction with individuals with a mental illness\, and scenario based de-escalation skill training. Experience has shown this is a minimum level of training hours. The materials covered are complex. The desired learning outcomes go beyond simple cognitive retention of the material. The outcome desired is the retention of behavioral changes learned as part of the training. Students will receive certification as Crisis Intervention Team responders at the conclusion of the program. \nLisa Monast will be our main presenter for the program. Lisa is the Education Specialist and CIT coordinator for Mental Health America of Northern Kentucky and Southwest Ohio. Lisa will be joined by many other speakers during the week-long session to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of mental health issues today. PCC-S\, Pro Bono Counseling Program Coordinator with Mental Health America of Northern Kentucky and Southwest Ohio and Steve Keller\, Patrol Officer\, with the Blue Ash PD\nWHAT: Mental Health First Aid (Adult)\nWHEN: February 9th\, 2017 8am-5pm\nMarch 9th\, 2017 8am-5pm\nApril 6th\, 2017 8am-5pm\nWHERE: Blue Ash Fire Department\, 10647 Kenwood Rd\, Blue Ash\, Ohio 45242\nWHY: Mental health challenges – such as depression\, anxiety\, psychosis and substance use – are shockingly common in the United States. In fact\, more than one in five American adults will have a mental health problem in any given year. The National Council for Behavioral Health certifies individuals throughout the nation\, including Mental Health America and Blue Ash PD\, to provide Mental Health First Aid courses to prepare their communities with the knowledge and skills to help individuals who are developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Identified on SAMHSA’s National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices\, the training helps the public better identify\, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses.
