SUMMARY:Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Training
DESCRIPTION:40-hour Certification\nHosted By: Springfield Township Police Department – Chief Rob Browder\n& The Hamilton County Police Association (HCPA). \nThe 40-hour comprehensive training emphasizes mental health-related topics\, crisis resolution skills and de-escalation training\, and access to community-based services. The format of this 40-hour course consists of didactics/lectures\, on-site visitation and exposure to several mental health facilities\, intensive interaction with individuals with a mental illness\, and scenario based de-escalation skill training. Experience has shown this is a minimum level of training hours. The materials covered are complex. The desired learning outcomes go beyond simple cognitive retention of the material. The outcome desired is the retention of behavioral changes learned as part of the training. Students will receive certification as Crisis Intervention Team responders at the conclusion of the program. \nLisa Monast will be our main presenter for the program. Lisa is the Education Specialist and CIT coordinator for Mental Health America of Northern Kentucky and Southwest Ohio. Lisa will be joined by many other speakers during the week-long session to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of mental health issues today.
