DESCRIPTION:Mental Health America of Northern Kentucky and Southwest Ohio along with the Sharonville Police Department are joining forces to host “Mental Health First Aid” training (adult version). Similar to ‘First Aid’ and CPR\, ‘Mental Health First Aid’ teaches individuals how to help those experiencing mental health challenges or crises. \nWho: Lisa Monast\, Hamilton County Intervention Team Coordinator with Mental Health America of Northern Kentucky and Southwest Ohio and Cheryl Price\, Community Resource Officer with the Sharonville Police Department. \nWhat: Mental Health First Aid Training (Adult)\nWhen: May 26\, 2017 8am – 5pm\nWhere: Metro Transit Authority\, 1401 Bank Street\, Cincinnati\, OH45214\nOperations Building (large main building on the south side)\nPlenty of free parking on the lot \nWhy: Mental health challenges such as depression\, anxiety\, psychosis\, and substance abuse are shockingly common in the United States. In fact\, more than one in five American adults will have a mental health problem in any given year. The National Council for Behavioral Health certifies individuals throughout the nation\, including Mental Health America and Sharonville PD\, to provide Mental Health courses to prepare their communities with the knowledge and skills to help individuals who are developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Identified on SAMHSA’s National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices\, this training helps the public better identify\, understand\, and respond to signs of mental illnesses.
