SUMMARY:OC Aerosol Instructor
DESCRIPTION:Gain detailed information involved in the use of all types and forms of Oleoresin Capsicum aerosol projectors. This 8-hour course covers all aspects involved in the selection\, preparation\, deployment\, storage\, and legal ramifications regarding the use of all OC products. The student will also acquire specific information in Defense Technology® OC products\, including all formulations\, blends and spray patterns\, along with the skills necessary to return to their agency and conduct in-service training.\n\nCOURSE OVERVIEW\nOne of the most common law enforcement tools in use today\, this course\nfocuses on the proper deployment of OC. The course is separated into\nlectured-based studies followed by a half-day of practical application\ndrills\, product testing and evaluation in the field. Unlike many classes on\nthis topic\, the information provided is direct from the manufacturer of the\nproducts used.\n\nThe course covers topics such as tactical considerations\, decontamination/\nfirst aid\, protective masks and criminal and civil liabilities\, and policies and\nprocedures with a focus on instructor development to prepare the student to provide in-service training and documentation for their agency. Throughout the class\, students participate in discussions with our instructors who are nationally recognized for their experience in real-world deployments of OC products. Upon completion of the course\, and successfully passing the final exam\, the student may provide in-service training to their agency in specific areas for 36 calendar months from the testing date.\n\nCOURSE BENEFITS\nThis course is conducted by real-world professionals with strong\noperational experience in their respective fields. Our instructors are either\nactive or former SWAT\, CERT\, Military and/or Supervisory professionals with years of knowledge and experience as an instructor.\n• Be able to provide operator-level instruction at your agency.\n• Increase your understanding for the latest in OC products and\nthe tactics associated with their deployment.\n• Increase your understanding for liability and the legal ramifications\nregarding the use of OC.\n\nPREREQUISITES\nEach attendee must be physically fit for duty and able to perform the physical skills associated with tactical applications. Students who have undergone any type of eye surgery in the past 12 months must notify the STA prior to enrollment.
