SUMMARY:Traffic Collision Investigation (Level I)
DESCRIPTION:This 40-hour Traffic Collision Investigation course will instruct officers on topics including measuring\, photographing\, recording evidence at crash scenes\, and diagramming the scene to scale. Upon completion\, officers will be able to analyze a collision and determine what happened before\, during\, and after the collision. Officers will be instructed on advanced techniques for application of mathematical principles and equations to determine vehicle speeds from tire marks\, the use of traffic templates\, driver and witness interviews\, human factors\, evidence from vehicles and the roadway\, field sketches\, measuring\, diagramming\, photography\, and preparing their case for court. Officers should be familiar with Ohio crash reporting forms and procedures before attending this course. Officers will need a calculator with square root function and will participate in outside exercises. \nNOTE: THIS CLASS IS GRANT FUNDED AND FREE TO OHIO OFFICERS. DESCRIPTION:Course Description: Great Oaks Public Safety Services has gathered together a highly qualified team of experts to deliver this two-day course on communication skills essential for all law enforcement to successfully navigate through crisis encounters on the street. The term de-escalation is used throughout law enforcement to describe what we already do well — talk to people. Its what we don’t know or don’t do well that can complicate our encounters with community members. This course will teach officers to look inside themselves to discover their own emotional response and communication systems while learning about response skills and techniques for better communication with others\, especially those persons in crisis. The objectives are to increase relationships\, trust and partnerships with our communities with better outcomes for all parties involved. \nPresenters: \nAlison Fienning\, MSW\, LISW-S\, CCTP owner of Pinpoint Behavioral Health\nChief Paul Hartinger (Retired)\, Law Enforcement Trainer & Educator\nOfficers James Clements and Josh Hilling\, Agent Darian Thompson\, and James Hubbell \nAll presenters have years of experience teaching and training in the public safety sector\, and all instructors are certified ‘de-escalation’ instructors in various models and methods including ICAT (PERF)\, Vistelar®\, Force Science Institute®\, Dolan Consulting Group® and others.
