DESCRIPTION:This two-day Social Media & Open Source Investigations course is designed to equip law enforcement officers with the necessary skills and knowledge to gather information from publicly available sources\, such as social media\, websites\, and other online platforms. The course will cover a range of topics\, including the legal and ethical considerations involved in conducting social media & Open Source (OSINT) investigations\, the identification and evaluation of online sources\, and the use of specialized tools and techniques for data analysis and verification. Participants will learn how to leverage social media platforms to identify and track criminal activity\, monitor threat indicators\, and gather evidence for investigations. \nThroughout the training\, officers will be encouraged to practice their skills through hands-on exercises and case studies\, enabling them to develop a practical understanding of how to use social media and OSINT in real-world scenarios. \nTOPICS INCLUDE:\nLegal issues regarding Social Media & Open Source Investigations\nAnonymizing techniques\nOpen Source investigations\nSocial Media investigations\n(Facebook\, Instagram\, Twitter\, Snapchat)\nHandling exigent circumstances on Social Media\nExecution of legal process to Social Media\nHow to document your search\nHow to preserve digital evidence\nExercises for students to demonstrate proficiency \nStudents will be given a FREE list of investigative resources in the class and shown numerous free databases/resources during the class. \nWHO SHOULD ATTEND:\nOfficers\, Detectives\, SRO’s\,\nDispatchers\, Crime Analysts\, etc. \nRESTRICTED TO LAW ENFORCEMENT\nPERSONNEL \nWHAT TO BRING:\nThis is a hands-on course\, students\nare required to bring a laptop or\ntablet with internet access. \nCOST:\n$375 per student\n$325 groups of three or more
