SUMMARY:Statement Analysis For The Informed Interview
DESCRIPTION:For years officers have been collecting Witness\, Victim and Suspect Statements as a matter of routine and often fail to recognize the importance of what the writer is really conveying or purposely omitting. Through the Statement Analysis process\, officers and investigators can gain insight that will prove invaluable in the interview/interrogation phase of the investigation. By analyzing the deliberate words people use\, paying attention to the balance of the statement\, the strength of their insinuations and a number of other critical factors\, the Statement Analysis process will guide our investigators through a deliberate course of questioning. Statement Analysis will change the way our officers and investigators process criminal investigations and will unquestionably lead to a higher clearance and solve rate. \n“To give a reason for anything is to breed doubt of it”\n– William Hazlitt\, 1826 \nInstructor:\nChief Michael Harnishfeger is a 37-year veteran of Law Enforcement with over 25 years as a Police Chief and now in his 18th year with the Ada Police Department. In 2008 Chief Harnishfeger graduated from the 235th Session of the FBI National Academy where he studied Statement Analysis and Investigative Interviewing. Throughout his career Chief Harnishfeger has attended a number of Criminal Investigation Courses and Seminars and as Chief of Police oversees all major investigations within his department. Chief Harnishfeger is a graduate of PELC (Police Executive Leadership College)\, CLEE (Certified Law Enforcement Executive) and REMI (Rural Executive Management Institute). \nChief Harnishfeger is the inventor of a number of state and nationally recognized Crime Prevention Strategies including Project SECURE (Seeking the Elimination of Crime by Uniting Residents and Enforcement\, CLEAN Team (Compliance through Enforcement and Administrative Notices) and SAFER (Seeking Aid From Every Resident). Chief Harnishfeger has presented at a number of venues statewide\, nationally and internationally. Chief Harnishfeger served as President of the Ohio Association from October 2010 through September\, 2011. \nCost:\n$195.00 \nRegistration:\nOnline at https://www.professionaltrainingconcepts.com/ or Contact Chief Scott Hughes at 513.683.8520 \nPlease make checks payable to Professional Training Concepts (EIN #46-2166100). SUMMARY:Ohio Public Records Laws For Police Agency Leaders & Municipal Employees
DESCRIPTION:Course Description: Mark Weaver\, a former Ohio Assistant Attorney General and expert in Ohio’s public records laws\, will present the basics of Ohio Public Records laws for police agency leaders and clerical personnel. Mark will cover Ohio’s Public Records laws and go through recent court rulings as well as details about new laws surrounding privacy\, sealed records and body/cruiser cameras. Mark will also cover some of the legal and practical concerns for keeping these records in 2020 and beyond. For example\, if your initial incident report and your full investigative report are within the same computer program\, does that mean you’ve got to give a newspaper a copy of everything if they ask for it? This course is designed for all levels of the police organization and is useful for other levels of municipal government seeking a better understanding of Ohio’s Public Records Laws. Most importantly\, despite listening to a lawyer talk for several hours\, this class will NOT be boring! \n***Deadline for registration is Friday April 23\, 2021*** \nCost: $125.00 \nRegistration: Online registration can be found here if paying by credit card:\nRegistration link click here\nClick “Add To Cart” and create an account to register online \n…..OR…… \nComplete the attached registration form if your department is to be billed or invoiced. \nSend forms to:\nSandi Jackson\, Administrative Assistant\nGreat Oaks Public Safety Services\n200 Scarlet Oaks Dr.\, Cincinnati\, Ohio 45241\n(513) 612-5800 Email: jacksonc@greatoaks.com Fax: (513) 771-0781
