SUMMARY:House of Worship Training
DESCRIPTION:-ACTIVE AGGRESSOR (SHOOTER) IN PLACES OF WORSHIP \nHouses of Worship can be extremely vulnerable to active shooter attacks because of their location\, population\, and open door mentality. There are certain steps the leadership team can take to minimize the risk of being involved in an active shooter incident and this training will not only cover those steps\, but will also cover best practices to survive these types of incidents. \nOTHER CRIMES IN PLACES OF WORSHIP – AN “ALL HAZARDS APPROACH” \nIn addition to active shooter/threat incidents\, there is a growing number of property crimes \nbeing committed against Houses of Worship\, especially theft of funds\, burglary\, arson\, and vandalism. Even more disturbing\, House of Worship members and staff are just as vulnerable to occurrences of personal and physical abuse as any other location. Those intent on victimizing the vulnerable know that the forgiving culture and easy access environment of the House of Worship can inadvertently foster an opportune place to strike. \nHouse of Worship leaders have the responsibility to conscientiously screen candidates\, set boundaries\, maintain an atmosphere of ethical behavior\, and sustain a safe overall environment that is a hallmark of the House of Worship as a place of refuge and peace. \nTRAINING PRESENTATION \nOur presentation will cover topics to educate members\, staff\, leadership\, and clergy on how to protect people and property; preventing accidents\, injury\, and neglect\, safeguarding against loss from crime and theft of funds\, protecting members and staff from abuse\, liability\, false claims\, and lawsuits. Protection of those entrusted to your care is a key element of a House of Worship. Taking these additional\, proactive steps will especially demonstrate your care and concern for the members\, staff\, and guests in your facility. \nWHY ATTEND THIS CLASS \nThis training course is designed to inform and educate those responsible for maintaining a safe environment for the people and property associated with churches\, chapels\, synagogues\, temples\, mosques\, or any other place of worship we reverently call a House of Worship. This course will assist in helping House of Worship leaders to learn how to prevent\, avoid\, and control various risks associated with the members\, staff\, guests\, and buildings that make up your House of Worship. Fortunately\, most of the crime mentioned above are preventable! \nFBI statistics reveal that property crimes listed above are the primary ones that are costing Houses of Worship nearly 500 Million Dollars in lost funds and insurance costs\, not to mention the loss of parishioners. \nREGISTRATION INFORMATION \n$30 – OCPA Members \n$40 – Non-Members \nINCLUDES REFERENCE & TRAINING MANUAL \nRegistration and payment can be completed online by visiting www.ocpa-oh.org. \n

SUMMARY:FBI Law Enforcement Executive Training
DESCRIPTION:U.S. Department of Justice\nFederal Bureau of Investigation FBI Cleveland\n1501 Lakeside Avenue\nCleveland\, OH 44114 \nLAW ENFORCEMENT EXECUTIVE TRAINING \nGreat Lakes Leadership Seminar – Session 22\nNiagara Falls Air Reserve Station\n2026 Lockport Road Niagara Falls\, New York October 6-11\, 2019 \nThe Buffalo\, Cleveland\, Cincinnati\, and Pittsburgh Divisions of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) will be hosting a Regional Command College in Niagara Falls\, New York from October 6-11. 2019. This will be the twenty-first annual session of the Great Lakes Leadership Seminar (GLLS). \nOfficers in the rank of Lieutenant and above\, or their agency’s equivalent\, are eligible for attendance. Depending on openings\, and subject to the recommendations of their agency’s chain of command\, Sergeants may also\, on occasion\, attend this seminar. The training is modeled after the FBI’s Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar (LEEDS) which is held at the FBI Academy. Their primary audience is Law Enforcement Executives. \nThe training will cover a variety of issues affecting law enforcement leaders today. Areas covered will include diversity\, leadership\, media\, officer safety issues\, and other subjects important to the interaction of executives and their rank and file officers.\nInstructors for the session are drawn from the FBI’s Academy located at Quantico\, Virginia and other subject matter experts from throughout the region. \nLiaison is an important goal of the seminar. Attendees must report no later than 5 p.m. on Sunday\, October 6 for registration. Classes will be held daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Attendance at all scheduled classes and instructional programs is considered mandatory\, unless there is an emergency. \nAttendees will be selected from the Cincinnati\, Cleveland\, Pittsburgh\, and Buffalo FBI territories. This year’s session size is limited to a total of eighty (80) law enforcement executives\, 20 from Northern Ohio\, in order to facilitate interaction between those attending\, instructors\, and FBI management present that week. Your selection to attend the GLLS will not preclude you from future attendance at the FBI National Academy. \nThe FBI does not normally charge for training; however\, due to the inherent costs associated with this program\, a fee of $375 is being charged per executive attending. This registration fee covers non-FBI instructor/presenter fees\, instructional materials\, and other administrative costs necessary to run the seminar. Additionally\, the registration fee will also cover each attendee’s daily breakfast\, lunch\, refreshments\, and a formal banquet dinner on Thursday evening. Payment will be addressed once attendees are selected. \nIf a selected attendee can no longer attend the seminar\, your department can submit an application for another officer of equal or higher rank. Priority consideration will be given to your department; however final selection is made by the FBI. If the spot cannot be filled\, your department may not receive a refund of the course fee. \nWe have arranged lodging within the Air Reserve Base at a hotel facility immediately adjacent to the training center. Lodging cost (approximately $65 per room nightly) is the responsibility of each attendee/department. Payment to the hotel will be required for lodging upon check-in. \nThe GLLS provides a great training and liaison opportunity for law enforcement executives from the Great Lakes region. The 2019 seminar is sponsored by the FBI Cleveland Division with full support from the Buffalo\, Pittsburgh\, and Cincinnati offices. \nIf you have any questions\, contact Special Agent Melinda Molina\, or Training and Civic Liaison Colleen Brown. Applications will be accepted until July 12\, 2019. \nMelinda Molina\nTraining and National Academy Coordinator FBI Cleveland\n216-622-2877\nmcmolina@fbi.gov \nJ. SUMMARY:Lock Picking and Specialized Entry Techniques
DESCRIPTION:If you want to learn how to make entry by picking locks or bypassing locks\, you’re seeking specialized entry training\, also known as covert or surreptitious entry training. This can be broken down into two components: Lock Picking & Lock Bypassing. \n\nLock Picking\nYour lock picking training will consist of extensive hands-on practice of over 150 locks. This is true saturation training; nearly the entire time you’re in class\, you’ll have locks and lock picks in your hands. The range of locks include a cross section of locking devices you’re going to encounter in the field:\nKnob locks\,\nDeadbolts\nPadlocks\nVehicles\nElevator control panels\nStrongboxes\nFile cabinets\, aircraft and many\, many more\nYou’ll learn to identify the various lock brands\, including their strengths\, weaknesses and where they’re typically found. Since lock picking is a critical component of our course\, you’ll be knowledgable on selecting the correct pick and more importantly\, it’s correct usage. SUMMARY:Crisis Intervention Team Training
DESCRIPTION:ADDRESSING THE NEEDS OF OUR COMMUNITY AS LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS \nThis 40-hour comprehensive training addresses mental health related topics\, crisis resolution and de-escalation skills\, and access to community-based services. A variety of learning styles are presented\, including didactics/lectures\, on-site visitation to mental health facilities\, interaction with individuals with a mental illness\, and scenario based de-escalation skill training. Experience has shown this is a minimum level of training hours as the materials covered are complex. The desired learning outcomes go beyond simple cognitive retention of the material and into behavioral changes learned as part of the training. \nTraining is FREE and supported by the Hamilton County Mental Health & Recovery Services Board\, NAMI Ohio\, and Mental Health America of Northern Kentucky & Southwest Ohio.
