SUMMARY:Ohio Traffic Stop Data Collection: Preparing for 2020
DESCRIPTION:The Ohio Collaborative Community-Police Advisory Board has required all of its member law enforcement agencies to collect data on all self-initiated traffic contacts by 2020\, and release to the public a documented annual administrative review of agency practices regarding biased-based policing. The data required to be collected include\, at a minimum\, the race and gender of the driver of the vehicle stopped. \nWhile this is a positive move towards strengthening police-community relations and increasing agency transparency\, if collected and analyzed incorrectly it could result in a public relations disaster that could needlessly upset the community and destroy the morale of your personnel. \nThis course is designed for the personnel in your agency who will be responsible for gathering and tabulating these traffic stop data\, and writing the resulting report for the public. This course will expose these individuals to the current state of the art methods for collecting and analyzing traffic stop data in a fair and valid manner and reveal the pitfalls of using improper analysis techniques. The goal of the course is to teach the personnel responsible for this data collection effort how to conduct their analysis in a manner that is honest and fair to both the community and your officers. \nInformational Flier!\nRegister HERE!\n

SUMMARY:SPEAR System: Instructor Certification
DESCRIPTION:The SPEAR SYSTEM™ is the world’s first and only behaviorally-based close quarter defensive tactics & personal defense program.  It is based on science\, psychology and human bio-mechanics. It uses hard-wired reflexes to enhance an officer’s ability to detect\, intercept\, and defend a sudden close quarter ambush. This system is not a martial art nor does it replace other defensive training systems. The SPEAR System provides a bridge between the sudden onset of an attack and the DT skills an officer already possesses\, so the design will enhance any already existing program. \nThis Trainer Development Program allows agency instructors to introduce a full SOP / ROE into their agency’s ‘Use of Force’ model covering development of pre-assault awareness\, Startle/Flinch Conversion Theory\, Counter Ambush Policy Development\, Close Quarter Tactics and scenario / drill development. \nThe new format for SPEAR 4.0 will enhance an officer’s ability to identify pre-contact cues\, allowing for more incidents to be handled with less violence. This course will enable instructor graduates to increase the safety of the officers within their agency\, regardless of the officers age\, gender or size. \nThe new SPEAR 4.0 course has an improved focus on both the officer’s and the subject’s safety\, thus\, reducing liability. The new design also enhances decision-making and recall which will help officers better articulate use of force decisions so both the officer and agency are safer. \nCLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION\n
