SUMMARY:Crisis Intervention Team (C.I.T.) training and Mental Illness/Mental Health Response training
DESCRIPTION:Over the past ten years the HCPA Training Committee has partnered with the Mental Health community to bring Crisis Intervention Team (C.I.T.) training and Mental Illness/Mental Health Response training to the greater law enforcement community in and around Hamilton County. We are proud to have been a part of certifying hundreds of police officers\, dispatchers and emergency responders in C.I.T. and other important programs that benefit so many people we encounter. \nThis year is no exception\, and I am pleased to announce four more certification classes for this year. Mental Health America has partnered with the University of Cincinnati Police Department for two of these sessions (September and December)\, while the other classes will be held in Sharonville (in October) and Springfield Township (in December). I’ve attached the training fliers for your convenience. \nFor more information on these classes and other Mental Health programs and initiatives\, please visit the Mental Health America website: www.mhankyswoh.org .
SUMMARY:Medical Marijuana Enforcement
DESCRIPTION:Last year we brought in Mr. Chris Halsor\, Colorado lawyer and former prosecutor\, to introduce Ohio government officials to medical marijuana\, which was legalized in Ohio in 2016.  This year many of the laws have been formalized and now it will be up to law enforcement to recognize\, investigate and prosecute cases involving this ‘legal’ drug and the sales and distribution related to it.  Therefore\, its time to bring Mr. Halsor back for a law enforcement-specific class!  As you may have heard\, LE professionals in states with legal marijuana are often confused and perplexed by the laws and handcuffed by a lack of knowledge on how to proceed with cases. Mr. Halsor has worked in a state with legal marijuana for years and is well-versed in methods police officers and criminal investigators need in order to respond legally and appropriately to these laws and the violations that are sure to follow. Chris has taught law enforcement officers across his home state and across the country on this emerging topic.  Bring your questions to the session and be prepared to take notes. \nJoin us from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM (four hours) on November 13th at the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College campus\, 9555 Plainfield Rd.\, Blue Ash\, Ohio.   The classroom is in Walters Hall\, on the first floor\, room 100. \nRegistration is on the website: www.understanding420.com under Trainings tab. \nPlease also review the below attachments and these links prior to the training for updates and Ohio Revised Code Sections related to medical marijuana: \nhttp://www.medicalmarijuana.ohio.gov/rules \nhttp://www.medicalmarijuana.ohio.gov/resources \nhttp://codes.ohio.gov/orc/2925 \n2017-1113 – HB523 Summary2017\n\n2017-1113 – hb523_05_EN \n2017-1113 – OhLEGuidetoMedMrjna
