Presented by: The Ohio Traffic Safety Office And The Ohio Drug Recognition Expert Program In partnership with the Milford Police Department

Class begins promptly at 0900 on March 8th, 2017 and concludes March 9th 2017 at 1700
10 minute breaks will be given hourly
Lunch is daily from 1200 to 1300

Tuition / Fees
This is a 16 hour accredited course sponsored by the NHSTA and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

There is no cost to attend.

4 Hours of C.P.T
The O.P.O.T.C has approved this A.R.I.D.E. course to count as 4 hours of Continuing Professional Training in 2017 as a General Law Enforcement Subject.

12.5 Hours C.L.E Credit
Prosecutors are welcome to attend this course and it has been approved by the Ohio Supreme Court for 12.5 hours of CLE Credit

** This training is federally funded and provided for the benefit of public sector law enforcement and prosecutors. Therefore, individuals who could benefit their private part-time work with the training are ineligible e.g. a private practice defense attorney is ineligible. **

A.R.I.D.E. is a course that is designed to train law enforcement officers to observe, identify and articulate the indicators of impairment caused by drugs and/or alcohol. ARIDE training is critical for agencies seeking to reduce fatal, injury and property damage crashes through increased impaired driver arrests. The ARIDE course serves as a SFST update and has been approved by the OPOTC as 4 hours of C.P.T. credit as a General Law Enforcement Subject.

The course will train participants to:

  1. Understand and describe the relationship of drugs to impaired driving incidents
  1. Administer the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests proficiently in compliance with the most current SFST and ARIDE training curriculums. (currently 10/2015)
  1. Observe, identify and articulate the observable signs of drug impairment with the established seven drug categories associated with the DRE program.
  1. Recognize possible medical conditions, which may mimic the obvious observable signs of impairment.
  1. Articulate through testimony and written statements, impairment attributed to alcohol and/or drugs.
  1. Understand toxicology reports and what sample is needed to be collected for use in an impaired driver arrest.

Prerequisites to enroll in the A.R.I.D.E. course:
Be a certified law enforcement officer through O.P.O.T.C. or a State Trooper, Have completed a certified SFST course OR Be a prosecuting attorney for a court located within the State of Ohio

(Prosecutors will not be tested for SFST Proficiency)
