Paladin Program: Training Trilogy

Presented by:

John Ferguson is a retired 32 year career law enforcement officer who has served as an expert witness in firearms, use of force, and tactics. An OPOTA certified instructor and former police academy commander, John has presented training at the international level, been published in various police publications, and is the author of the police reference book “99 things every law enforcement officer should know.”

Robert “Stu” Stewart is a retired 28 year career law enforcement officer with a background in high-level firearms, use of force, and tactics. A Gunsite academy graduate, he is a former SWAT team member, OPOTA certified instructor, and has presented training at the international level.

Course Description: Police in today’s ever evolving, politically sensitive environment must realize that they need to make better decisions to survive physically and professionally. This course introduces officers to the field of Decision Science with an emphasis on decision making for law enforcement. This class focuses on decision making in situations that are tense, uncertain, and rapidly evolving, such as use of force and other critical incidents. In this course, Part One of the Decision-Making Series, officers will understand how the decision-making process works and how internal and external factors influence those decisions, sometimes without our conscious knowledge. Having these understandings, officers will be able to establish good decision-making habits, improve their decision-making process, and avoid the many decision traps that are amplified in law enforcement decisions.
