TRIAL TESTIMONY SKILLS COURSE FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT
- Gathering solid evidence for probable cause to arrest and successful prosecution in OVI cases by using effective communication skills during the three phases of OVI detection;
- Drafting a detailed and accurate police report;
- Effectively preparing for court;
- Accurately conveying the evidence acquired during the roadside investigation on direct examination and maintaining professionalism, credibility and integrity on the stand;
- Surviving cross examination by understanding common defense tactics, learning how to deal with defense attorneys, and providing honest responses to less-than-honest defense strategies; and
- Including a mock trial portion where the officers will get feedback from experienced law enforcement officers and prosecutors.
