Defensive Tactics Instuctor

This 5-day, highly dynamic course is like no other because it provides useful defensive and countermeasure skills in all three zones of defense,
especially for close quarter battles (CQB) and effecting the arrest. It relies
heavily on practical, hands-on applications and is intended for those who
want instruction in the proper uses of both soft and hard empty-hand
techniques, weapons retention, and use of straight batons (expandable or
rigid) for self-defense. The course also provides subject-control for escort/
takedown and handcuffing, handcuffing techniques for passive and active
resistant individuals with chain and hinge cuffs, along with proper usage
and application of aerosol OC.

COURSE OVERVIEW
With a format that combines the proven effectiveness of the Basic
Monadnock® Defensive Tactics System Course, the comprehensive
Monadnock Expandable Baton dynamic hands-on curriculum, the proven
restraint techniques of the Hiatt® Handcuffing Course and the time-tested
Defense Technology® OC Instructor Course, individuals will learn how to
utilize the skills, information, technology and tactical options to meet the
challenges of the job, and provides them with the proper skill set necessary
to return to their agency and provide training to others.
• Empty-hand defense, active countermeasure techniques, control and
takedown techniques
• Instructor development
• Utilizing expandable/straight batons for defense, control, escorts and
takedowns
• Oleoresin Capsicum formulations/carriers
• Transitional control for overcoming subject resistance and deescalation
considerations

COURSE BENEFITS
This course is taught by leading experts who have real-world experience
in both psychomotor skill programs and field applications of those skills.
Our instructors are either active or former SWAT, CERT, Military and/or
Supervisory professionals with years of knowledge and experience as a
Master Instructor. The class will provide the student with the instructor level training needed to return to his/her agency and, as that agency’s
instructor, develop and conduct a specialized program designed around the
agency’s exact operational needs in the area of Expandable/Straight Baton,
Handcuffing, OC and Defensive Tactics for sworn personnel.

PREREQUISITES
Each attendee must be physically fit for duty and able to perform the physical skills associated with practical and tactical applications with the use of these products. The Defense Technology Training Academy trains only sworn law enforcement officers, correctional personnel, state-licensed security personnel (OC only), or active military personnel.

• Appropriate training clothing for defensive tactics with non-mar footwear
• Duty belt

• White foam and black foam training batons (if available)

• Mouthpiece
