Victor Lloyd has presented mental health topics to law enforcement and criminal justice professionals for over twenty years. Victor has helped create positive de-escalation skills for all levels of private and public interests with an emphasis on treating the mentally ill with empathy and compassion.
Paul Hartinger has over thirty years of law enforcement experience including twenty years teaching and training police officers in topics including Crisis Intervention and mental illness response.
Course Description:
This course is designed for all first responders and supervisors who might encounter someone suffering from mental illness, who is in crisis, or may be experiencing symptoms of excited delirium. Students will learn basics of recognizing mental illness symptoms and how to respond appropriately to de-escalate the situation and get the individual the help they need. Students will be introduced to the phenomenon known as excited delirium/Agitated Chaotic Event and learn practical skills to contain the victim and get them medical help.
