6:00-8:00 PM
The Grove Conference Center
9150 Winton Rd.
Cincinnati, OH 45231.
With instruction provided by a local National Weather Service meteorologist, this course will equip students with the knowledge to become the “eyes and ears” for their communities when severe weather is imminent. Spotter reports are essential in helping local meteorologists issue timely, accurate, and detailed warnings by confirming hazardous weather detected by NWS radar. Spotters serve their local communities by acting as a vital source of information when severe weather approaches, so please forward this opportunity to those groups or personnel who may be interested. An ideal target audience for this class includes interested citizens, CERT Team members, Amateur radio personnel, and local emergency responders.
Course Goals
- Participants understand severe watches and warnings
- Participants become spotters who are able to relay their weather observations to NWS, emergency management, or public safety personnel for more accurate weather warnings.
