Reading Police Department
The City of Reading Ohio Civil Service Commission is testing to create an eligibility list for a Full-time position of PATROL OFFICER with the City of Reading Police Department.
A written exam will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2023, on the 2nd floor of the City of Reading Municipal building located at 1000 Market St., Reading Ohio 45215. A valid driver’s license must be presented on the day of testing to sit for the examination.

All applicants upon completion of the hiring process, must possess a current state certification from the Ohio Peace Officers Training Commission, be 21 years of age or older, possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and be insurable.
Prior to appointment, candidates must be able to pass a background investigation, interview process, polygraph examination, psychological examination and a pension mandated physical examination.
Starting salary for the position is $61,135 annually. After successfully completing a one-year probationary period, those applicants with prior full-time municipal law enforcement experience will advance one pay step for each year of said full-time experience, up to a maximum of five steps. Currently the top step salary is $81,813 annually.
An excellent benefits package is provided with health insurance where 90% of the yearly deductible paid by the city through the employee’s Health Savings Account. Dental and vision insurance where 85% of premium is paid by the city. A $25,000 life insurance policy is also included in the benefit package. Employees receive paid vacation days, (112 hours for years 1-8, 168 hours for years 9-15, 224 hours years 16-24, 272hours for 25+ years), accrual of sick time of 112 hours a year, 2 personal days, 9.5 paid holidays paid at 3x hourly rate, yearly uniform allowance, bi-annual weapons and longevity check, and many other benefits. Officers currently work 12 hour shifts with every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off.

City Of Norwood Entry-Level Patrol Officer
Position Description
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Possession of a high school diploma or GED,

11. Contact and coordinate with other law enforcement agencies regarding suspects, calls for service, mutal aid and other areas of concern.
12. Secure crime scenes; gather and log evidence; ensure proper handling and disposition of property.
13. Perform crime prevention activities that include surveillance patrols and dissemination of information to the public and other agencies.
14. Report to fire and accident scenes in assigned areas, as directed, giving assistance and first-aid where needed.
15. When directed and necessary, appear and testify in a court of law.
16. Work various shifts and irregular hours as necessary; when ordered, be available in times of emergency, crisis, disaster or other special departmental needs.
17. Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance.
18. Maintain all equipment necessary for the daily performance of job duties, including vehicles and firearms.

Blue Ash Police Patrol Officer Lateral Transfer
Description
The City of Blue Ash is accepting lateral applications for the position of Police Patrol Officer. Lateral applicants are those applicants currently employed full-time as a peace officer and have maintained OPOTA certification (Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy). Applications must be submitted through the City’s online system by or before Sunday, May 6, 2023.
Lateral applicants will be required to complete a physical abilities test. This test is made up of duty specific tasks, including sprinting, going under and over obstacles, identifying suspects, and dragging a dummy to simulate an officer down rescue. The test is timed and must be completed in under 58 seconds to pass. All applicants that pass the physical abilities test will be invited to the oral examination. Applicants who do not pass the test or fail to show up for the test will be disqualified from the hiring process.
The oral test will be scored and will create an eligibility list. The top ten (10) candidates on the eligibility list will move to the interview phase which may consist of one (1) to two (2) interviews.
If selected, prior full-time service will be taken into consideration when determining starting pay and leave benefits.

Police Sergeant
Position Summary:
Under the general direction of the Chief of Police/Director of Public Safety, Assistant Chief, and Lieutenants, Sergeants will exercise supervisory responsibility for various shifts or special programs and assignments. The Sergeant position functions as a member of the leadership team mentoring, and fostering professional development within XUPD.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervises Specialists, Officers and other personnel assigned to shifts, programs, or details.
- Plans, assigns, and reviews work; monitors and evaluates performance, provides mentoring and counseling as necessary, investigates violations of policy and recommends disciplinary action for the Sergeant’s direct reports.
- Develops and demonstrates knowledge of, and compliance/competency with the Clery Act, Title IX, RAVE, Guardian, BART, X-ACT and all other student support services.
- Assists with special events as able or required.
- Performs patrol of jurisdiction, answers calls for service, and takes part in enforcement efforts on a Monitors reports for quality, thoroughness, accuracy, and assists with dissemination
- Assists in the maintenance of equipment including, IT devices, communications platforms, software and fleet vehicles including regular inspection/assessment of vehicles, radios and other equipment, making recommendations for future needs or immediate concerns.
- Maintains open communications in both directions through the chain of command and officer roster via e-mail, roll call briefings, and provides on the job training and various types of instruction for personnel and supervises Field Training Officers assigned to new cadets, officers, or auxiliary officers.
- Represents the department at weekly/monthly on/off campus meetings as deemed necessary by the Chief of Police/DPS, Assistant Chief of Police, or Lieutenants and assists with direct support for Community Outreach programs.
- Participates in policy development, as it pertains to departmental and state mandated training. Schedules, plans and implements departmental training as deemed necessary by the state and Chief of Police/DPS, Assistant Chief, or in direct coordination with a supervising Lieutenant.
- Supervises and coordinates XUPD response to complex crime scenes or other unusual circumstances.
- Works closely with the Chief/DPS, Assistant Chief/ADPS, Lieutenants, and other Sergeants and maintains professionalism and positive mission support.
- Assists other public safety agencies or guides their assistance to the University as required through MOU and determines mutual aid needs for additional police, fire and EMS personnel.
- Directly assists and conducts criminal investigations at the direction or in support of the Investigations Section.

Police Dispatcher
Position Summary
This person will answer emergency calls requesting police, fire and rescue assistance. Determine appropriate response in accordance with established procedures and assessment of the situation. Dispatches police units in response to calls for service. Maintains a record of all calls and radio messages through Report Exec, a computer aided dispatch system. Monitors status of XUPD, safety escorts and other special duty units.
